We are happy to announce the publication of an API that allows developers to retrieve ATM machines closest to a geolocation. The API takes a geolocation and returns the 10 closest ATM machines. ATM machines are not limited to ING but include all ATM machines in the Netherlands.
URL and Parameters
The url for the API is http://maps.ing.nl/api.php?acct=[account]&lat=[LATITUDE]&lng=[LONGITUDE]. The account is a identifier that should identify your application uniquely. To acquire an account, please leave your e-mail address on the form on this page. We aim to update the database of ATM locations on a two monthly basis.
Restrictions
Obviously, ING wants to be a respectable bank. We do not want to be associated with any criminal activities, drugs, sexual exploitation, arms trade and so on. Therefore we need to know the use of your application. We reserve the right to cancel your account in case we find the use of the account not acceptable.
In order to prevent third parties to abuse your account, the use of the account shall be limited to a single IP address. Therefore the API is a typical server to server API and cannot be invoked directly from the client application.
We also require the application to publish a reference to ING bank, like "Data provided by ING".
Android Dev Camp
Because we introduced this API on Android Dev Camp we opened a test account "android". This account has been suspended. You can request an account by sending a mail to api [at] innovation [dot] ing [dot] nl
